Sewer Siphon Improvements Project
Irvine Ranch Water District contractors will be making improvements to several of the District’s sewer siphons, which divert sewage flow under, over or around an obstacle such as a creek.
Pre-construction cleaning and inspections of three siphon locations (S3, S5, and S18) will take place in January and February of 2025. These activities will take place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Construction will take place from April 2025 to April 2026, completing work at one location before moving on to the next.
Work in June 2025 will be focused on S5 at Jamboree and Main. This work will include dewatering and cleaning of the line; installation of a CIPP liner; removal and reconstruction of concrete bench and stop logs; removal and replacement of manhole frames and covers; testing and coating of interiors.
Improvements at each site will vary, but may include some or all of the following:
- Removal and replacement of concrete slabs
- Installation of new composite manholes
- Installation of flow control devices
- Coating of concrete surfaces
- Site improvements
- Air vent installation
- CIPP lining of siphon barrels
