Silverado Canyon Bridge 177 Pipeline Project

Silverado Canyon Road Bridge 177 Pipeline Project

Irvine Ranch Water District contractors will be rerouting a water pipeline located on Silverado Canyon Road Bridge 177 (55C-0177). This work will ensure continued water service while the County of Orange replaces the bridge.

Silverado Canyon Road Bridge 177 is located between the western and eastern entrances to Oak Lane.

March to April 2025 (IRWD):

  • IRWD contractors will install a temporary water pipeline to maintain water service during the County of Orange’s bridge construction work.

July 2027 (County of Orange):

  • The County of Orange anticipates replacing the southern section* of the bridge by July 2027. (Contact Orange County Public Works at 714-667-8800 for information on the bridge work.)

August 2027 to September 2027 (IRWD):

  • IRWD contractors will install a new pipeline supported by the new bridge. Remaining pipeline will be abandoned or removed.

Bridge traffic will be reduced to one lane during all phases of construction.

(*The northern section of the bridge will be replaced after the new water pipeline has been installed.)

2026:

The County of Orange anticipates completing its Stage 1 bridge work in July 2027. IRWD will mobilize soon after to complete pipeline work by end of December 2027.

2025:

August: The County of Orange is scheduled to begin work on the bridge this fall. IRWD contractors will return to relocate the pipeline to a permanent position in March, 2026.

June: Pipeline work will be completed, and concrete will be installed at key locations to protect it.

May: Work will begin to relocation water pipeline currently attached to the bridge.

April: Construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 7. A temporary water shutdown is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, May 1, to establish a temporary water line in anticipation of the upcoming demolition of the southern section of the bridge. This temporary interruption of service will affect residents on Silverado Canyon Road between the western and eastern access points to Oak Lane.
