As a service to our customers we feature a calendar of IRWD and community events on our site at IRWD.com/events. IRWD participates in dozens of community-hosted events every year, and self-hosts tours and workshops.

Back to Natives Restoration

BACK TO NATIVES RESTORATION is a non-profit, volunteer organinzation for those interested in the restoration and conservation of Orange County's wildlands. Back to Natives assists in the recovery of Orange County's biodiversity through the restoration of open spaces, and the development of habitat gardens. The organization also educates student and community members about the importantance of native plant and biodiversity. Cool Irvine

The Cool Irvine is a program of the nonprofit, Cool OC, which is dedicated to educating communities on climate change and empowering individuals to adopt safe, resilient, and eco-friendly lifestyles within Orange County. Since 2022, the organization has been committed to galvanizing local cities toward carbon neutrality, inspired by the UN Environmental Programme's call to cultivate "cool cities" that mitigate the impacts of climate change. Families Forward
Families Forward

Serving the community since 1984, Families Forward's mission is to help families in need achieve and maintain self-sufficiency through housing, counseling, education and other support services. Help support these families through financial donations as well as food donations. Inside the Outdoors
Inside the Outdoors

INSIDE THE OUTDOORS, a leader in hands-on science and social studies programs since 1974, is a unique environmental education program administered by the Orange County Department of Education. Their mission is to empower students, teachers, parents and the community to explore natural areas and expand their knowledge of the outdoors. Shadetree Partnership is a volunteer organization that promotes more liveable communities through the planting and stewardship of shade trees. Shadetree Partnership sponsors volunteer events at its nursery on Anteater Drive on the University of California, Irvine campus. Stop and Swap Program
Stop and Swap Program

Created by the Irvine Regional Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center this program is designed to help the county reduce its cost of disposing of materials which cannot be safely disposed of with regular trash, such as paint, batteries, pesticides, etc. Stop and Swap now allows residents to pick up usable materials which other residents have dropped off. "Swapping" helps residents reduce and reuse materials, helping to keep landfills, and ultimately our water supplies, free of hazardous wastes. For more information call 714-834-6752.
