Put that porcelain poltergeist to rest

Are you haunted by the ghostly wail of the toilet running when no one is around? If so, you could have a phantom leak that is costing you money.

This happens when water leaks from the toilet tank into the bowl, triggering the autofill device whenever the water level drops too low.

A worn flapper, faulty fill valve or other aging toilet part is usually the culprit and can waste 200 gallons of water per day.

To check for a leak, place a drop or two of food coloring or a dye tablet into the tank. Wait 20 minutes. If the colored water has seeped from the tank into the bowl, you have a leak.
