IRWD seeks applicants to fill vacancy

Irvine Ranch Water District is seeking applicants to fill the vacant Division 1 seat on its Board of Directors.

Division 1 encompasses portions of Irvine, Lake Forest , Orange and unincorporated Orange County.  The Director for Division 1 must be a resident of that division and be a registered voter.

Candidates interested in being appointed to the vacant seat should submit their resumes to BoardMail@IRWD.com, along with a letter of interest stating their qualifications and that they meet the residency and voter registration requirements. To be considered, candidates must submit by 5 p.m. Aug. 31, 2026.

The IRWD Board will hold a board workshop and candidate forum on Sept. 17, 2026, to interview and gather more information on each candidate and potentially fill the vacancy of the Division 1 Director by making the appointment at the end of the workshop.  The appointed candidate would serve as the Division 1 Director for  the remainder of the Division 1 term, which runs through November 2028.

IRWD is governed by its five-member Board of Directors. Board members are elected by division for four-year terms. The Board is responsible for the District’s policies and decision-making. Day-to-day operations are supervised by the General Manager and implemented by staff.

Board members spend from 10 to 20 hours a month in Board, Committee, ad hoc and various other meetings of the District.
