The new Board Director will represent IRWD’s Division 1, which encompasses portions of Irvine, Lake Forest , Orange and unincorporated Orange County, on the IRWD Board of Directors.
Anyone who wants to be considered for appointment must reside in Division 1 and be a registered voter.

The IRWD Board of Directors is the governing body for the District. Board members are elected by division for four-year terms. The Board is responsible for the District’s policies and decision-making. Day-to-day operations are supervised by the General Manager and implemented by staff.
Board members spend from 10 to 20 hours a month in Board, Committee, ad hoc and various other meetings of the District.
As a requirement to serve on the Board, each director must be a resident of the division they represent and be a registered voter in the District.

A resume and a letter of interest. In the letter, candidates should state their qualifications and confirm that they meet the residency and voter registration requirements of the seat.

The IRWD Board will hold a board workshop and candidate forum on Sept. 17, 2026, at 5 p.m. At the workshop, the Board will interview and gather more information on each candidate and potentially fill the vacancy of the Division 1 Director by making the appointment at the end of the workshop.
The appointed candidate will serve as the Division 1 Director for the remainder of the Division 1 term, which runs through November 2028.
