Fire Department Tours IRWD Facility

More than 60 Members of Santa Ana Fire Department took a tour of the Irvine Ranch Water District Primary Disinfection facility responsible for disinfecting water pumped from the Dyer Road Wellfield in Santa Ana.

“This site visit was part of a state and county compliance program that requires agencies such as IRWD to provide hazardous materials disclosure to first responders such as the Santa Ana Fire Department,” said Ken Erwin, IRWD Safety and Security Manager.

Christopher Ciraulo, the Santa Ana firefighter in charge of Hazardous Materials Disclosure Program for the fire department was impressed with what he saw. “To come here and see what is behind these walls is helpful,” Ciraulo said. “Awareness and education is the key to saving lives. This is a very clean and well-kept facility.”

The tours took place over three days this week, allowing all three shifts of the fire department to view the facilities.
