Public is Invited to Participate

Irvine Ranch Water District will host a blood drive on Tuesday, August 9 from 10:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The public is welcome to participate.

“Summer is the most crucial time for blood banks to keep their supply levels up because donations tend to decrease,” said Kris Thomson, who has been organizing the IRWD blood drives for 18 years.

The University of California, Irvine Medical Center will collect blood from those signed up to donate. The UC Irvine bloodmobile will be located at the rear parking lot of the IRWD headquarters building at 15600 Sand Canyon Avenue. Appointments are available every 15 minutes.

Blood donors must be at least 15 years old with parent/guardian consent.   All donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health, be free of high-risk behavior/infectious disease and must not have had a tattoo within the previous year. They must also provide a list of specific destinations and time periods if they have traveled outside of the United States in the previous year.

Anyone interested in donating blood may contact Kris Thomson at (949) 453-5436. For more information about IRWD, please check out our website.

The UCI Medical Center Bloodmobile will be onhand in the IRWD parking lot on August 9 from 10:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
