Change Does Not Affect Water Safety
IRWD customers may experience a slight change in taste of IRWD water. This change does not affect the safety of the water and poses no health risks. The taste change is caused by seasonal algae found in sources of imported water from the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
IRWD’s drinking water comes from two primary sources: local groundwater and imported water. The blending of these sources varies according to the time of year and geographic location within the District. Imported water from MWD is a small part, typically around 20 percent, of IRWD’s water supply. MWD has implemented a treatment plan approved by the California Department of Water Resources.
Customers with questions or concerns should contact IRWD Customer Service at 949-453-5300 or email customerservice@irwd.com
