Quail Meadow NTS site

The Quail Meadow NTS basin is located behind the Quail Hill shopping center along interstate 405, about 100 yards southeast of the Quail Springs NTS site.

Quail Meadow has yet to receive sufficient flows to warrant regular water quality monitoring.  It is anticipated that as future development fills in the surrounding watershed, that enough dry weather flow can be sustained to allow a regular monitoring program.

Biological Values:

The site maintains decent biological values, given its proximity to interstate 405 and the busy Quail Hill shopping center.  Much of the habitat is seasonal alkali meadow, lacking any cattails or woody vegetation. Additional biological observations are planned in the future.

The following nesting bird species were observed on the site: Marsh Wren, Mallard, House Finch, Black Phoebe, Song Sparrow, California Towhee.
