Check out the new IRWD Always Water Smart CALscapes section for all things outdoor water use efficiency. Improved outdoor water use efficiency represents significant potential for water conservation savings. This resource is for IRWD customers who want attractive, healthy, water-efficient landscapes, and are in search of information and resources. It's a one-stop shop with garden tours, garden galleries, a searchable plant database and a garden resources section.

Native and California-friendly plants are perfectly suited to our mild winters and warm, dry summers. These plants thrive here. They’re low maintenance, use little water and don’t need soil preparation or fertilizing.

When establishing native plants in your garden, it is important to follow specific guidelines to ensure proper establishment. The Native Planting Guide provides helpful tips on how to best establish native plants.

For short, informative videos on specific California Friendly plants, please visit our YouTube channel, at IrvineRanchWD.
