Located in the south-central portion of Orange County, IRWD encompasses approximately 179 square miles and serves all of the city of Irvine, plus portions of Costa Mesa, Lake Forest, Newport Beach, Orange, Tustin and unincorporated areas of Orange County.  IRWD extends from the Pacific Coast to the foothills, with elevations ranging from sea level to 3,200 feet. This is a semi-arid region with a mild climate and an average annual rainfall of 12 to 13 incues. The District serves a population of 330,000.
