Week of April 16, 2012

Five bids were received and the project was awarded to L & S Construction.  A separate contractor will clean the pipeline and the preliminary cleaning is scheduled for May.

Week of March 5, 2012

Permits were obtained from the City of Irvine and the project is now out to bid.  Bids are due April 4.

Week of February 6, 2012

Revised plans for encroachment permit regarding the 12-inch sewer replacement on Gillette Avenue at Main Street were submitted to the City of Irvine last week.  Once the encroachment permit is granted, the plans will be finalized and the project will go out to bid.

Week of January 12, 2012

Preliminary design work determined there is substantial local groundwater present where the proposed new sewer manhole is planned.  The groundwater will have to be dewatered and disposed of to construct the new manhole.  Given that additional coordination work will be required to complete this manhole, the manhole construction will be separated from the sewer replacement design and bid out separately.  Staff continued with the final designs.

Week of October 3, 2011

The proposed replacement sewer line will be installed in the same location as the existing sewer line to avoid conflicts with existing utilities within the street.  In addition to the replacement line, staff determined the need for a sewer manhole so this was added to the project.  Staff continues with the project's design and specifications.

Week of September 5, 2011

IRWD continued work on the design plans for the sewer improvements planned for this location.
