Natural Treatment Site: Forge

Forge NTS siteThe Forge NTS site is located along Portola Road in the foothills north of Irvine.  The site is surrounded by urban development and agricultural land uses. The site receives routine water quality monitoring, and it sees moderate removal rates for nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus, as well as suspended solids. In 2019, water quality sondes were installed, allowing the continuous collection of water quality parameters such as pH, temperature, electrical conductivity, turbidity, and dissolved oxygen. In 2020, Endemic Environmental hydro-seeded the slopes of Forge to fill in open spaces with natives and to help out-compete weedy invasive species with hearty and long-lived native species. Went online June 2007.
