IRWD customers toured the Water Quality Lab at IRWD's 50th Anniversary Event in September 2011. Saving water and money has never been easier. We offer residential landscape workshops twice per year, in the early spring and fall. Workshop dates are also advertised in the monthly newsletter, Pipelines, that comes with your water bill.     4th Annual Residential Demonstration Landscape Open House & Vendor Fair

    Join Irvine Ranch Water District and University of California Cooperative Extension on Saturday, September 29, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 4th Annual Residential Demonstration Landscape Open House and Vendor Fair.

    This family-friendly fun event takes place at UC South Coast Research and Extension Center located at 7601 Irvine Blvd., Irvine, CA 92618, where you can:

    • Explore the landscapes and see how you can incorporate low-water-use plants in your landscape.
    • Visit with gardening industry vendors and water agencies to learn about various methods which will help you reduce landscape water use.
    • Check out the live gardening demonstrations happening throughout the day, focusing on topics such as composting, irrigation and container planting.
    • Taste exotic fruit grown at the UC South Coast Research and Extension Center.
    • Encourage your children to participate in gardening and water education activities with the UCCE Master Gardeners
    • Attend presentations by University of California researchers and landscape aficionados.
    • Participate in random opportunity drawings held throughout the day for a chance to take home one of the many gardening gifts.

  • Webinars

    Webinar slideIRWD's most recent webinar, entiltled "Implementing the New Water-Efficient Landsdape Ordinance in Orange County," was a collaborative live web presentation by IRWD, the Municpal Water District of Orange County and the Orange County League of Cities.

    The webinar was presented to help explain the potential impact, exemptions and implementation requirements of the new county-wide landscape legislation. Orange County's city facilities managers, commercial property owners, developers and professional landscapers formed the primary audience for this free and well-received webinar.

    "New Ways for Landscape Watering" helps residential customers learn how their usage affects water conservation efforts. This helpful webinar provides insightful tips on smart watering.

    "Cost Saving Irrigation Tips for Property Managers" offers information on how to reduce water bills, avoid "hidden costs" and the importance of upgrading smart irrigation systems.

    "Implementing the New Water-Efficient Landscape Ordinance in Orange County" helps public agency personnel, landscape contractors and builders who are seeking more information on the new water-efficient landscape ordinance. 

  • Workshops

    How to Love your Garden...and your Water Bill

    IRWD offers FREE residential landscape workshops to help our customers learn the California Friendly way to achieve a beautiful landscape with less water and more money in their pockets! Our next workshop is scheduled Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the South Coast Research & Extension Center located at 7601 Irvine Blvd., Irvine 92618

    Guests can see displays of California Friendly plants and lawn alternatives, mulch or composting materials, and high efficiency irrigation products. Vendors will be on site to display the latest in water landscape technology.

    Fun for the whole family: Interested residents can "talk shop" with gardening industry aficianoados, or sit in on one of their presentations, tour the beautiful UC Extension demonstration landscapes, taste unusual fruits, participate in a planting activity for their kids, have a garden tool sharpened for free and take part in one of the the random opportunity drawings held throughout the day for a chance to take home one of the many fabulous gifts.
