Monthly Billing

You will receive a water bill shortly after your meter is read each month. The District has an ascending block rate structure which promotes and rewards efficient water use. The five-tiered system begins with a low volume discount rate and charges progressively higher rates as usage increases. IRWD uses water use histories, university research, and daily weather station data to establish appropriate water allocations for each customer.

The ascending block rate system is based on science and your water allocation takes into account fluctuations in temperature and moisture occurring in different climate zones throughout the District. We recognize weather conditions can vary from Newport Coast to central Irvine to Foothill Ranch and use three strategically located weather stations to gauge the differences in these microclimates. The Water Wise allocation system allows us to calculate daily weather data to ensure that customers receive the correct water allocation. Data from the weather stations is automatically input into IRWD's computerized billing system to provide the most accurate information possible in factoring your water allocation.

Check here for details on our rate structure for residental use. For more information on services to help you save water, check our Conservation area.

If you receive a penalty on your water bill, please contact the Customer Service Department at (949)453-5300.
